Welcome to the Mountain View High School Drivers Education Program. We are excited to help you navigate the entire process of obtaining a drivers license.
NOTE: Alpine School District increased the drivers ed fee to $200 beginning July 1, 2023. This fee covers the class, range and road. The cost to complete the class online or in-person is included in this fee.
Steps to getting your Drivers License:

Steps to getting your Drivers License:
- Obtain a Learners Permit
- To obtain a Learners Permit you must be at least 15 years old and pass a 50 question test at the DLD.

- Fee $19
- Drive a minimum of 40 hours (10 hours at night)
- You may begin accruing these hours as soon as you have your learners permit
- You DO NOT need to complete all 40 hours before finishing the other steps (Class, Range, Road)
- Pass a Drivers Ed Class
- MVHS offers ONLY an online class:
- Complete Driving Range
- For information and to sign up for Range, CLICK HERE
- Compete Road Driving
- After you complete Range, your Road Instructor will schedule 4 sessions of Road (2 hours Each)
- Driving Test
- After completing Road Driving you will need to take your Driving Skills Exam. The Driving Skills Exam will be completed at either the DLD or with a MVHS instructor. Click HERE to schedule an appointment.
- Other Items
- Be at least 16 years old
- Have your Learners Permit for a minimum of 6 months
- Complete the Safety Trends Exam
